is a science fiction-drama film that was released in 2006. Starring famous actors such as Clive Owen, Julianne Moore and Michael Caine. Movie, Based on the novel of the same name by P.D.James and directed by Alfonso Cuarón.

The film takes place in the year 2027, and the world population has drastically decreased due to infertility. The story is about a former activist named Theo Faron trying to get the world's first pregnant woman to safety with the help of a woman who is an illegal immigrant. This pregnant woman's child is the last hope for the continuation of the human race.

Children of Men attracted attention with its visual style, great camera movements and gripping story. The film also received critical acclaim and won multiple awards.

Theo Faron (Clive Owen) is a man who was once an activist but can no longer escape the meaninglessness of life. One day, he receives information about the existence of the world's first pregnant woman, and this news is given by Julian (Julianne Moore), an illegal immigrant. When Julian enlists Theo's help in getting the pregnant woman to safety, Theo hesitates but eventually agrees.

The pregnant woman becomes a hope of human salvation because the world population has dwindled due to infertility and no babies have been born for the past 18 years. Theo sets out to take the pregnant woman and a group of her companions to a safe place on a ship.

However, Theo and his team encounter many difficulties on the way. Many people are disturbed by the presence of the pregnant woman and want to kill her. Also, the British government has lost its power in a world dominated by chaos and violence.

Theo finally gets the pregnant woman aboard safely, but many people lose their lives on this voyage. In the film's finale, Theo and the other people on board encounter the birth of a new baby, a source of hope for humanity.


"Children of Men" addresses an important problem that threatens the existence of humanity and examines the idea of world population decline and the extinction of the human race. The film also deals with themes such as human survival instinct, hope and the goodness of human nature.

  • The director of the film, Alfonso Cuaron, preferred to use as little artificial light as possible during the shoot and tried to create a more realistic atmosphere by using natural light as much as possible.
  • Most of the footage in the movie was shot in single-shot sequences. That is, many scenes were viewed as one continuous shot for several minutes.
  • The cinematography of the film was done by Emmanuel Lubezki, and it won the Oscar for Best Cinematography in 2007 for this work.
  • Clive Owen, the lead actor of the movie, did a lot of physical exercises and followed a special diet for his role. He also quit smoking for his role and did a lot of street interviews to make the character more realistic.
  • The doll in the movie was a real doll and was actually used during filming. Despite the difficulty of working with the doll, the director chose this to create a realistic atmosphere.
