The 1995 movie "Hackers" is a crime - drama - hacker movie directed by Iain Softley and starring Angelina Jolie, Jonny Lee Miller, and Matthew Lillard.
The plot of the movie begins with the attempts of a young hacker, Dade Murphy (Jonny Lee Miller), to infiltrate the computer system of Ellingson Mineral Corporation, one of the largest business and financial institutions in New York, with a group of young hacker friends working with him.
When Dade was 11 years old, he hacked into a TV station's computer system, causing a major scandal, and was subsequently banned from computer use for 7 years by a court order. "The Plague" is actually the alias of the company's chief of security, Eugene Belford (Fisher Stevens), and an old friend of Dade's. He plans to crash the computer system of Ellingson Mineral Corporation by developing a computer virus of his own. However, Dade and his friends learn of his plan and work together to save the company. In the process, a love story develops between Dade and Kate Libby (Angelina Jolie).
At the end of the movie, Dade and his friends are captured by the FBI, but are rescued at the last moment by "The Plague". Dade is threatened by FBI agents to reveal information about previous infiltration attempts, but his friends rescue him and together they skateboard the streets of New York and escape.
