Smultronstället / Wild Strawberries (1957)

Smultronstället is a 1957 film by the famous Swedish director Ingmar Bergman. The English title of the film is also known as "Wild Strawberries" and its original Swedish title "Smultronstället" means "wild strawberry picking place". The film is considered one of Bergman's foremost works and is considered by many critics as one of the most impressive films in the history of cinema.

The film tells the experiences of Isak Borg, a 78-year-old retired professor, during one day. Borg is a medical school professor at Uppsala University and feels he is at the end of his life. Using the opportunity presented to him, Borg decides to attend a university in rural Sweden, and along the way, he begins to reflect on the mistakes he regrets for the rest of his life. At this point, Professor Isak Borg embarks on a journey where he has to confront his past. Borg sees the repercussions of important events in his life, such as the death of loved ones, problems with his family, and disappointments. During this journey, Borg also returns to his teenage years and love life. At the same time, the Borg's relationships with other people around him are also examined, leading to deep reflections on the meaning of life. The film includes several scenes of the Borg's journey, as well as his memories, dreams, and visions.
